Rarotonga beach...... heaven!

And so it begins....

Hello everyone, slight delay in posting due to the internet being incredibly slow and expensive in the cook islands. Have just arrived in Auckland and found cheaper internet!! Had a wickedly lazy week in rarotonga, despite in raining nearly everyday!! which did shatter our smug 'lets lie on the beach all day' dreams, however we both managed to get sunburnt so not doing too badly. Island was gorgous, just like on the movies! palm trees, white sand and bluest blue sea. Though the mozzies obviously love the taste of english flesh as we both got bitten ALOT!

Half way through the week we decided to be adventurous and went on a 4 hour hike across the island, which involves walking up a very big mountain! We flew the flag for the brits by being the last ones to the top and nearly dying due to lack of fitness. (note our guide did in bare foot and without breaking a sweat!) However hike ended with a swim in a gorgous waterfall, so not all bad!

Celebrating our lack of fitness by a nite out, which lead to nat being taught how to do rarotonga dancing by some locals, they laughed she gave up (it was v.hard!)! Was gonna teach them the cat in the hat dance in return by think it would have got lost in translation!

Fri is late night opening so decided to test the local beer, soon discovered raro lager is 6%, watched the dancer of the year competition at a local bar which was amazing, puts our dancing to shame, gonna try and put pics up of it later. Also went to the club in town, which cost 40p to get in! bargain. Much dancing and drinking, though again even nat was shown up by the locals moves- have never before feared the dance floor but really didn't feel worthyt next to the local girls!

Flew to auckland today, got four nights booked here, so will post again soon.
